Lori Andersen is passionate about science education. Her expertise includes deep knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards, learning progressions, and science teaching. In her previous work, she has developed science assessments and learning maps. Dr. Andersen has also taught elementary science methods. Her research has been published in a variety of science education and gifted education journals.
Dr. Andersen is a master teacher. She taught high school physics for 15 years in Virginia at many levels. In that role, she developed specialized curriculum that integrated physics with mathematics. Dr. Andersen earned National Board Certification in AYA Science/Physics in 2009. Her teaching has been recognized with two national-level awards: the VSP Vision of Science Teaching Award and the Radio Shack National Teacher Award.
